Food Science and Technology department is sole of Food Technology. Food occupies Ist position among the hierarchal needs of human beings. During recent decades there has been considerable progress in introducing science and technology in all aspects of food production, processing & consumption. Food processing is the set of methods &techniques used to trans form raw ingredients into value added product.
This Department encompass a diverse range of courses such as fruit and vegetable technology, Spices and flavors technology, Confectionary technology, meat, poultry and fish technology, Extrusion technology, Dairy technology, Food Quality, Quality assurance and certification.
As Food Technologist has to work on floor and in lab, Practical knowledge is important. Our college provides it better by making availability of well-equipped labs such as fruits and vegetable processing, Dairy. The equipment’s in labs are screw type juicer, Basket press, pulper cream separator, Carbonation unit, cabinet dryer, microwave oven churner etc.
To improve commercial processing knowledge college have commercial backing unit with different machineries as baking oven, Dough mixer, kneader, flour stiffer, hammer, milk bread cutter.
Under the present scenario it is rightly believed that future of food processing industry is safe in increasing the productivity, diversification and value addition.
